Happy Father's Day, Daddy! I miss you!

My Dad would be so pleased and very interested in my weaving and I must do more.  So I need to really get down and get busy on my exploration of Krokbragd.

But first.  Interweave Press freebie marathon ended up a One-A-Month learn something new project.  So I made up a lot of folders and I'm exploring all the ebooks.  First up Crochet, so downloaded 5 crochet ebooks and decided to try a crocheted rug.  Already picked out the yarns in desert colors, Bernat Roving in acrylic and wool.

And this yarn reminded me of the great yarns I used for Krokbragd before so I thought I'd explore some more.  The yarns above are bulky, must look around for a knitting worsted roving yarn, but I thought I'd use Caron One Pound acrylic too, because it is pretty substantial.

Here's a place to start for a discussion of the weave, with a bonus contribution by a Norwegian weaver who has woven a lot of Krokbragd.  Talk about going to the source.

Back later, going to explore for my favorite yarn.  cu   The roving yarns were all bulky at Walmart so I opted for wool or wool blend and the best yardage and price.  Here's the list (note: I added some variegated yarn which I've never seen in traditional Krokbragd, but why not?):

Lion Brand Fishermen's Wool, 465 yds. @ $7.97
Vickie Howell sheep(ish) (wool blend), 167 yds. @ $3.97

and variegated:

Lion Brand Amazing (blend), 147 yds. @ $4.97
Red Heart Boutique Treasure (blend), 157 yds. @ $5.97.
